Please note: We take infection controls and cleanliness very seriously indeed, which is why Dr Kilcoyne has gone beyond existing guidance to create the “Kilcoyne Klean™” concept.
Kilcoyne Klean™ applies the best scientific evidence methods in the most practical and effective ways to keep everyone healthy. Internal checks and readings show that the practice’s dental environments – including reception and waiting areas – are significantly cleaner than many outside public areas that people visit routinely.
This was already in place before Covid-19; since the “swine flu” era, the scientific community has expected further pandemics, and the practice was well prepared for this possibility.
Whether it is attention to the latest scientific evidence in infection control, or the meticulous planning of complex treatments, the same philosophy applies – do things properly, reliably and with the long-term interests of patients and staff in mind.
Dr Kilcoyne’s many dental posts and wide experience have helped countless patients and dental professionals over the decades. Planning optimal treatment options is just as important as the quality of treatment itself – and Dr Kilcoyne can help you get both right first time.

FAQs about seeing a Specialist & visiting SmileSpecialist®
In the UK, “Specialist” has a very specific meaning. A GDC-registered Specialist in Prosthodontics has completed additional formal training and examination beyond general dentistry and is officially recognised on the specialist register.
Prosthodontics covers rebuilding and replacing teeth – crowns, bridges, veneers, implants, precision dentures, complex bite problems and full-mouth reconstructions. It combines function, strength and aesthetics to restore your mouth as a whole, not just one tooth at a time.
Not necessarily. Planning and doing it right first time is often better value than having cheaper, short-term work that fails and needs replacing sooner.
As a Specialist, Dr Kilcoyne aims for the optimum balance of quality, longevity and cost. Our fees reflect the time, experience and materials involved, but are still very reasonable compared to many high-end clinics, especially for the level of expertise involved.
You can see typical guide fees on our Prices page and check our Special Offers for package savings.
We are very happy to receive referrals from dentists across the UK, especially for complex or specialist cases. However, if this is impractical or you do not currently have a dentist, you can often contact us directly as a self-referral, where appropriate.
Simply call 01535 644005 or use the Make Appointment link so we can guide you.
Yes. Many of our patients have had difficult experiences elsewhere or feel embarrassed about their teeth. We never judge – our role is to help you improve things, step by step.
We can allow extra time, explain options clearly, and plan treatment in stages so you stay in control. Our aim is a calm, respectful environment where you feel listened to and supported, not rushed.
Depending on your situation and after a full examination, options may include:
- Same-day tooth whitening / bleaching with specialist systems and protocols.
- Immediate implant placement or mini-implants in suitable cases to stabilise dentures.
- Same-day bonding or limited cosmetic reshaping to improve chipped or uneven edges.
The exact possibilities depend on your dental health, bone levels and bite. This is why a detailed specialist consultation is so important before promising any “quick fix”.
When carried out by a properly qualified and GDC-registered dental professional after a full examination, modern tooth whitening and cosmetic treatments are safe and well-researched.
Problems often arise when people are treated by non-dental providers or use unregulated internet products that are too strong, too acidic or contaminated. At SmileSpecialist® we only use materials and techniques that meet UK and EU regulations and have a strong scientific track-record.
For more detail on whitening, see our dedicated page: Tooth Whitening & Tooth Bleaching .
As a Specialist in Prosthodontics, Dr Kilcoyne is trained to look at the whole mouth – bone, gums, bite, existing restorations and long-term function – not just the implant itself.
Implants and mini-implants can:
- Replace single missing teeth or multiple teeth.
- Stabilise loose dentures, often avoiding the need for extensive grafting.
- Form part of a larger “smile makeover” or bite reconstruction.
For more information see Tooth Implants & Mini-implants .
We love helping people feel confident about their smiles, but our philosophy is always: long-term health first, function second, cosmetics integrated with both.
Prevention is cheaper and better than cure – that includes preventing people making poor choices based on price alone. We would rather plan carefully and preserve as much tooth as possible than chase quick but destructive cosmetic fixes.
As we often say, the best filling or crown is healthy tooth. Our job is to help you get as close to that as possible, and then keep it that way.
